At the begining, in 1978, she used to work for some of the main ceramic workshops of La Rambla. Her first exhibition was in 1982, at El Palacio de la Merced in Cordoba, when she was only 18. She collaborated with the well-known sculptor, painter and ceramist Alfonso Ariza, who emphasised her merits, and awarded her the silver medal of 1982 due to her artworks as ceramic decorator.
In 1984 she set up her own company and 11 years later she founded Ceramica Alcaide S.C, her brand since then Cristina Alcaide was born in La Rambla, cradle of ceramic artisans. Later she drove her works to painting of tiles’ murals, getting a great public recognition.
She belongs to the 80s ceramic painters generation that broke out with tradition from 18th century. They adapted their works for new times without forgetting the original artisan personality, doing their masterpieces more attractive and understandable for the rest of the World.
She has participated in many exhibitions and her artworks can be found around the world. She has worked for both public and private institutions.
The ceramic workshop
The workshop is located here, in La Rambla, and counts on permanent exhibitions and different points of sale. She has all kind of materials and tools to create a lot of different pieces: from plates to lamps. Her artworks are characterized by the mix of new lusterwares, shapes and colors.
The workshop allows working with freedom of creativity, in a singular way, making the difference with others studios in the area.
