Iglesia Conventual del Espíritu Santo

History

The convent was a built in a neoclassical style form in 1819. The niche of Nazarene (property of the brotherhood), was designed with a circular enclosure, and a pair of columns supporting the ledge and domes. This place was especially important for the population due to its statue of Jesus Nazareth, made by the sculptor Juan de Mesa in 1621 in which he improved his version of Nazareno as a version of great Sevilla power.

Holy Week

Brotherhood of Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno and Nuestra Señora de la Amargura: it was founded in the year 1603 and arrived to La Rambla on 4th March of 1622 coming from Sevilla, the imagine of Jesus the Nazareth. The brotherhood of the lady of solitude was born in 1738 in bosom of the brotherhood of Jesus and in 1974 the lady of solitude stopped being in the parade along with father Jesus Nazareth due to a new image of a lady in 1976, the lady of amargura that she was replaced in 1993 by the actual work of Francisco Romero Zafra. Beyond the image of Jesus of Nazareth and our lady of Amargura this brotherhood also has incorporated a San Juan Evangelia which was replaced by the actual and also has incorporated to two saints, Veronica in XVII century; and Magdalena which was first mentioned in 1704.

Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno

Brotherhood of Santísimo Cristo Yacente and Nuestra Señora de la Soledad : was founded on 6th april 1738, the year of the heart of our father brotherhood Jesus of Nazareth with the objective to care and devotion to give an old imagine of our lady solitude accompanying him. The general council of the fellowship was approved and made some conditions and rules and governed until 9th April 1773. The procession started on good friday morning as a penance, then in 1974 the brotherhood Jesus of Nazareth decide to split up and celebrated the penance a sundown on holy saturday. They incorporated the lying christ which took place in 1979 which is an ancient image from the fellowship of his old funeral.
